Article Galaxy® Autumn 2015 Version Release Inserts Article Rentals and Instant Subscription Content Access into Researcher Workflows

Research Solutions, Inc. (OTCQB: RSSS), a pioneer in providing on-demand access to scientific, technical and medical (STM) information for research-intensive organizations, announced the Autumn 2015 version release of the journal content access and management platform Article Galaxy by subsidiary Reprints Desk, Inc.  The Autumn 2015 release features short-term article rentals, instant access to subscription content from online databases and Article Galaxy’s order form for requesting documents, as well as a new Article Galaxy Library Portal add-on. Screenshots and full release notes can be viewed online at http://info.reprintsdesk.com/autumn2015.

Article rentals provide scientists, engineers, product safety professionals and others with limited time, full-text previews, ultimately enabling them to access a greater amount of content and make better purchasing decisions.  Instant ‘link-resolver’ type access to subscription content from online databases and Article Galaxy’s online document delivery order form saves time for researchers by eliminating the need to manually check whether subscription access exists for each content asset of interest prior to purchasing content. The new Article Galaxy Library Portal provides a unified point of access and management for licensed journals, books, databases, publisher token content, enterprise content repositories, web content and document delivery order placement for non-licensed content.

“Fast access to scholarly, peer-reviewed content is critical to innovation and intellectual property protection in science, technology and medicine,” said Peter Derycz, president and CEO at Research Solutions. “With the Autumn 2015 release, Article Galaxy is helping organizations to realize these benefits whether they are taking an in-house approach to content acquisition, licensing older technology from another external supplier, or still contemplating the transition to self-service access to electronic content.”

The latest Article Galaxy innovations and enhancements available in the Autumn 2015 version release include:

Full-Text Article Rentals

Available via the Article Galaxy order form on the reprintsdesk.com website, the optional Article Rentals add-on enables end users to spend their budget on the articles that matter most, while providing research to directors and information professionals with comprehensive usage statistics to determine when to subscribe to a publication or publisher package.  Users can identify rentals and rental pricing within the content requesting workflow by using the online order form.  Once a rental is requested, the user will receive an email containing a link to an online rental. A rented article may be viewed for three days, starting when the document is first accessed. Rental transaction pricing varies by publisher and is generally between $3 to $21 USD. Users have the opportunity to upgrade their rental to a full PDF purchase at the regular price at any time during the initial rental period. Rentals will be available through Bibliogo in the near future.

Quick Linkouts

Following up on the Summer 2015 release featuring Quick Downloads for non-subscribed content, Article Galaxy now offers an optional paid add-on for Quick Linkouts to subscribed content.  When a user submits a request that can be identified within the licensed holdings for their organization, Article Galaxy can now link the user to the requested content directly from the order form. Together, these two new features save time for users and provide immediate gratification by eliminating the need to wait for an email containing a link to a document delivery download or to their subscribed content.

Article Galaxy Link Resolver

Article Galaxy Link Resolver is a fully managed add-on that enables users to access the full-text for licensed content directly from the native interface of any OpenURL-enabled discovery environment. The user simply clicks the Article Galaxy Link Resolver icon for the content they desire.  Article Galaxy Link Resolver is initiated and presents the user with full-text access if subscription access exists.

Article Galaxy Library Portal

Article Galaxy Library Portal is an optional paid add-on that provides a unified point of access and management for licensed journals, books, databases, publisher token content, enterprise content repositories, web content and document delivery order placement for non-licensed content. Article Galaxy Library Portal features:

  • Searching, browsing and A-Z (subscription/database) list discovery functionality
  • Export options to reference manager tools
  • RSS alerting for new or updated information

  • User alignment to organizational divisions and departments
