IOP Publishing (IOPP) is expanding its open access (OA) Environmental Research portfolio to address the urgent need for sustainable food solutions globally. Environmental Research: Food Systems, which supports the United Nation’s Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs), is an interdisciplinary forum for researchers working to achieve sustainable global food security.   

Wiley, one of the world’s largest publishers and a global leader in scientific research and career-connected education, today announced that it has signed or renewed 22 transformational open access agreements with partners across the United States and Mexico.

New data from Springer Nature shows the vital role transformative agreements (TAs) are playing in driving the global transition to open access (OA). They are the main reason OA is increasing in Springer Nature’s  hybrid journals, delivering OA equity across all academic disciplines.

Marking a milestone in its role as a leading open access (OA) book publisher, Taylor & Francis has announced Technology and Sustainable Development: The Promise and Pitfalls of Techno-Solutionism as its 1,500th OA book.

From 1 January 2024, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)’s new open access policy will apply to monographs, book chapters and edited collections. The open access policy applied since April 2022 for peer-reviewed research articles acknowledging UKRI funding.

Last year, more people in more places read a range of Taylor & Francis high-energy physics books thanks to an innovative crowd-funded open access (OA) initiative. Taylor & Francis has confirmed it will continue to be part of SCOAP3 for Books, as the scheme moves from its pilot phase to an ongoing program of making new eBook releases available to everyone.

Corresponding authors at participating JULAC institutions in Hong Kong can publish an uncapped number of research articles immediately Open Access (OA) in our hybrid journals (Development, Journal of Cell Science and Journal of Experimental Biology) plus our fully Open Access journals (Disease Models & Mechanisms and Biology Open) without paying an article processing charge (APC).

PALCI (Partnership for Academic Library Collaboration and Innovation) and ACS Publications are excited to announce the signing of a new open access agreement that provides participating members with full financial support for open access publication in all ACS journals, as well as complete access to ACS Publications’ journal content through the end of 2025.

PeerJ has announced a new Open Access model and their first institutional partner. The award-winning publisher intends to move towards collective action for globally equitable Open Access, and their first step to this goal is a new model for institutional partners - Annual Institutional Memberships (AIMs).

IOP Publishing, and the South African National Library and Information Consortium (SANLiC) have finalised a three-year transformative agreement as they work towards breaking down open access (OA) publishing barriers for researchers in the global south.

Oxford University Press (OUP) and the Czech National Library of Technology (CzechELib), via Albertina icome Praha s.r.o, have reached a three-year nationwide read and publish agreement. Under the new agreement, researchers at CzechELib‘s member institutions can access high-quality research content from OUP’s full journals collection and publish their work open access.
