Charlesworth to provide sales representation services for the European Mathematical Society

Charlesworth is proud to announce a strategic partnership with the EMS Press, the publishing house of the European Mathematics Society (EMS) to represent its full portfolio of 26 journals and over 200 books and eBooks in mainland China.

EMS’s mission is to promote mathematical scholarship through the publication of high-quality, accessible, and open research. With a focus on technology-driven solutions for academic publishing, EMS is dedicated to delivering fair and sustainable open access.

Charlesworth’s in-depth understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities of the Chinese market, strong knowledge of the mathematical market and proven track record in securing transformative agreements in China position them as the ideal partner to represent and support the growth aspirations of EMS Press.

Under this agreement, Charlesworth’s Beijing-based team will provide sales representation services, starting with standard renewals, and transitioning to expand EMS’s Subscribe to Open offering in 2025. This will be supported by Charlesworth’s expert marketing team who will provide social media activity on behalf of EMS to actively engage with the librarian and researcher community in China.

Andre Gaul, CEO of the European Mathematical Society comments “We’re looking forward to working with Charlesworth on increasing the visibility and reach of our portfolio in China. We know they have an excellent understanding of the Chinese market and will help us to support mathematical research excellence in the region.”

Michael Evans, CEO at Charlesworth comments “We’re pleased to partner with EMS Press to support them as they take forward their mission to advance accessible and sustainable research publication in China. The EMS’s unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality content, combined with expanding their presence in China, not only strengthens the dedication of the EMS to promoting knowledge dissemination but also provides Chinese researchers with greater access to cutting-edge research.”

By leveraging Charlesworth’s extensive experience and local expertise, EMS will be better positioned to navigate the complexities of the Chinese market.
