ConTech 2019 partners with EBSCO Information Services to Connect Librarians and Library Students with New Technologies

ConTech 2019 and EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) are partnering to ensure more librarians attend the event in December. EBSCO will sponsor the conference — a sponsorship that will include a submission process that will allow four librarians to attend for free as well as a 50 percent discount for all librarian attendees, along with two opportunities for library student bursaries.

ConTech 2019 is a two-day conference specifically designed for information providers, information professionals, users and content owners who increasingly address the challenges of competing in a data world driven by machine learning, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies. ConTech was born because the intersection between information, content and data science is one of the most exciting, disruptive and unpredictable areas of publishing and information right now. It is the biggest tech revolution to hit the information world since the birth of the internet. The conference takes place December 5-6 at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London.

EBSCO Information Service’s Senior Vice President of Strategy, Tommy Doyle, says having attended last year’s ConTech, it was clear that more librarians should be encouraged to attend. “As librarians and service providers like EBSCO consider the future of libraries, it is essential we all learn more about the emerging technologies that will help shape and impact our future together. It’s important to us at EBSCO that we make it more accessible for more librarians to attend, and we want everyone to be able to connect with new service providers that can be part of that future. By offering opportunities for free admission and discounts and by providing opportunities for student librarians, we hope to bring together librarians and future librarians with future technologies, which is a win-win for all.”

Clive Snell, MD, of Info International says, “We have created ConTech as a platform to showcase the very latest thinking and to help us understand how data science, AI and other technologies can unlock a host of new opportunities for organisations of all types and sizes. Librarians and Information professionals play a pivotal role in taking up these opportunities. The conference enables librarians to learn, share and network around the latest technologies, tools, tips and techniques. They will also meet with experts and influencers and like-minded individuals engaged with this revolution.

We are delighted that EBSCO is providing this support to encourage more Librarian and Information Professionals to attend. I am very confident that those taking up these offers will take big steps forward in planning how to navigate a path for their libraries and organisations using the very latest technologies.”
