Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, announced the release of version 9 of the Voyager® integrated library system (ILS). Deployed by over 1300 institutions around the world, Voyager now provides faster, more efficient processes for librarians that will enable them to dedicate more of their time to user needs.
The new version includes over 80 enhancements, many of which were initiated by the Voyager user community and refined through close collaboration between Ex Libris and its user groups. Highlights of Voyager 9 include:
Enhanced Pick and Scan functionality to update items, holdings, and bibliographic records in bulk
More options to create record sets using Global Data Change (GDC)
The ability to export record sets and MARC records from GDC for use elsewhere
The ability to delete record hierarchies using either GDC or Pick and Scan
Enhancements to manage patron request workflows to improve services to users
The ability to link to the RDA Toolkit from the Voyager Cataloging module
New workflows to automatically remove lost fines and fees when items are returned to the library
An updated WebAdmin interface that makes it easier for librarians to manage the system
Numerous enhancements to the Media Scheduling module
Updates to OpenURL, SIP2, MARC 21 and ISO currency support
Technical enhancements to improve the stability and performance of the Voyager system in local and hosted environments

Field testing of the new version was also undertaken by the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI).
