Universities can now offer access to the Institution of Engineering and Technology’s (IET) renowned Inspec database via the award-winning ProQuest platform.
Created by the Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET), Inspec is one of the world’s most definitive sources of specialized scientific and technical literature, containing more than 16 million abstracts and indexing records. This rich A&I content continues to be available to corporate researchers via ProQuest Dialog. University researchers can now access Inspec through the award-winning ProQuest platform, which enables it to be cross-searched with hundreds of other databases on the ProQuest platform – including full-text content in ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global and the SciTech Premium Collection.
Inspec, an insightful and diverse bibliographic database, covers the core engineering and technology subject areas of physics, electrical engineering, electronics, communications, control engineering, computing, information technology, manufacturing, production and mechanical engineering. In addition, Inspec provides significant coverage in related disciplines such as materials science, oceanography, nuclear engineering, geophysics, biomedical engineering and many more.
“IET is very pleased to be able to offer the Inspec service on the ProQuest platform, in furtherance of its objective to disseminate high quality engineering information to the widest possible audience,” said Daniel Smith, Head of Academic Publishing at the IET. “As the scientific and technical literature continues to grow, we believe Inspec provides researchers with a highly developed tool, allowing them to increase the efficiency of their information discovery”
“Inspec has been a very valuable asset to our corporate customers on ProQuest Dialog. We are now excited to bring Inspec to our academic customers on the ProQuest platform,” said Niels Dam, Vice-President of Product Management, ProQuest. “The combination of Inspec with our aggregated SciTech Premium Collection and other relevant content will provide our academic customers with a compelling science and technology research offering. Faculty and students will benefit greatly from the diverse and essential research information such as full-text journals, dissertations, scholar profiles and conference proceedings that this powerful search combination delivers across a wide range of fields within science and technology.”
