As part of its commitment to quality and standards in Open Access book publishing, IntechOpen has joined the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA).
IntechOpen is an active member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) and the International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers (STM). As an Open Access publisher, playing a role in industry conversations and continuing to focus on quality and standards, is integral and membership of OASPA is an important addition.
Dr. Anke Beck, CEO of IntechOpen, says: “Our OASPA membership helps to safeguard and confirm our commitment to working with the research community to fulfill our mission as an information curator and provider. We are delighted to be a member of OASPA and look forward to participating in industry developments and working closely with other members to strengthen the Open Access model.”
OASPA is a membership organisation that was established in 2008 in order to represent the interests of Open Access publishers globally in all scientific, technical and scholarly disciplines. This mission is carried out through exchanging information, setting standards, advancing models, advocacy, education, and the promotion of innovation.
There are criteria that need to be met before membership is granted, along with agreement to adhere with principles of transparency and best practice. OASPA’s by-laws can be found here.
