The Institution of Engineering and Technology receives BIC Basic award and Onix 3.0 badge

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has been awarded the BIC Basic award for Product Data Excellence under the Book Industry Communications (BIC) accreditation scheme as well as receiving the Onix 3.0 badge. The IET is one of just a handful of publishers that have been accredited under the scheme to date.

Launched in 2010, the Product Data Excellence Awards scheme is designed to encourage publishers to appreciate the contribution made by accurate and timely product data to their sales; to enable them to demonstrate their commitment to making that data available in the supply chain; and to enable them to benchmark their performance against their competitors. The scheme recognises the issues that publishers face in maintaining and transmitting increasingly complex data and rewards them for adhering to criteria set out by BIC,

Sara Sharman, IET Head of Content Services said: “We are very proud to receive the BIC Basic accreditation and to be awarded the Onix 3.0 badge. Since we began distributing Onix 3.0 feeds in 2015, we have seen a notable increase in sales of our titles from the book trade and other channels and we are delighted to be able to better serve customers across the globe by delivering more timely, accurate data to support their workflows.”
