Atypon®, a leading provider of software to the scientific and scholarly publishing industry, today unveiled Literatum 14.1, the next generation of Atypon’s flagship platform for professional and scholarly publishers.
Literatum powers the websites of over 200 professional and scholarly publishers including many of the most prestigious publishers in the world. The first of multiple releases scheduled for 2014, Literatum 14.1 adds dozens of new features such as:
• Taxonomy management capabilities, which enable publishers to import and maintain their own taxonomies in Literatum and offer users the ability to search, browse and receive alerts by topic.
• Support for the Patron Driven Acquisition business model, which allows institutions to purchase content based on demand in Literatum.
• Integration of CrossRef’s CrossMark® update identification service, which enables publishers to communicate the current status of an article and alert readers to additional publication record information.
• Literatum for Mobile 3.1, which provides users mobile access to Literatum-powered websites on Android and iOS tablets.
“Literatum 14.1 delivers on important needs of professional and scholarly publishers: more effective search and discovery tools, the flexibility to implement multiple business models, and ease of access to content-rich sites on mobile devices,” said Marty Picco, VP of Product Management at Atypon. “We’ve also introduced integrations with Figshare and DataCite, which help publishers enhance articles and increase the discoverability of other content types.”
