Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), a global licensing and content solutions organization, will be integrating Altmetric data into its cloud-based RightFind™ content workflow solution that offers immediate, easy access to a full range of Scientific, Technical, and Medical (STM) content. The integration will begin this month as part of a pilot program with several customers.
Altmetric tracks the online coverage and discussion surrounding published academic research. Its data gives publishers, authors, funders and institutions a more complete picture of how policy makers, academics and the general public are engaging with their scholarly outputs via a range of sources including the mainstream media, blogs, Wikipedia, social networking sites, and post-publication peer-review forums.
“Altmetric offers an emerging standard in monitoring the online discussion surrounding scholarly papers,” said Euan Adie, Founder, Altmetric. “As a complement to RightFind’s extensive content decision support and usage analytics capabilities, Altmetric data will provide CCC customers with an even deeper level of understanding of the value of the content used throughout their organization and industry.”
“CCC recognizes the importance of measuring the influence of scientific literature on the research community,” said Babis Marmanis, CTO & Vice President, Engineering and Product Development, CCC. “Integrating Altmetric with RightFind will make it easier for researchers to connect with one another, for authors to seamlessly track stories developing around their work, and for organizations to make data-driven decisions about their external communications and content investments.”
CCC recently announced other enhancements to RightFind, including easier ordering from Google Scholar and PubMed, the ability to find resources by subject, and quicker access to content.
