Ingram Enhances Textbook Program with Used, Buyback and New Supply Options

Ingram Content Group Inc., today announced it has expanded its physical textbook selection and services with the addition of new supply models, a comprehensive assortment of used textbooks and textbook buyback programs.

“Ingram is growing its textbook services to provide our customers with a variety of options and solutions that will help them succeed in today’s evolving education market,” said Shawn Everson, Chief Commercial Officer, Ingram Content Group Inc. “Whether physical, digital, custom, new or used, Ingram’s full-service textbook program makes it easier for publishers and booksellers to get the right content into the hands of readers worldwide.”

Through its relationships with leading publishers, Ingram provides booksellers with access to millions of titles and supplemental learning materials, including hundreds of thousands of physical textbooks.

Physical textbooks are available for order through Ingram Book Group Inc.’s ipage®, Ingram’s online search, order and account management tool. Through a new ipage interface launching in Spring 2014, booksellers will have access to added functionality for the wholesale buyback of used textbooks by Ingram to manage excess inventory and student returns.

Launching early Summer 2014, booksellers will be able to purchase used textbooks on ipage at competitive rates. New and used textbooks in stock at Ingram are also available for purchase from leading textbook point of sale (POS) systems and vendors that bookstores commonly use.

Everson stated, “The enhancements to Ingram’s textbook offer create a comprehensive solution that gives booksellers flexible options and more choice for their textbook needs now and into the future.”

In addition to physical textbook options, hundreds of thousands of digital textbooks are available through Ingram’s VitalSource Bookshelf®, the preferred and most used e-textbook platform by institutions, educators and students worldwide.  More than 6.5 million e-textbooks were delivered by Vital Source in 2013, and recently, Ingram expanded its digital textbook offer with the acquisition of CourseSmart.

Complementing Vital Source digital textbooks, Ingram also supports publishers, institutions, educators and students with print-on-demand textbooks and custom publishing options, including course packs.
