IntechOpen, the first native scientific publisher of Open Access books, announced today that Alex Christoforou will join the company as Vice President, Customer Care. Christoforou will join IntechOpen in May, with over a decade of customer service experience in the publishing industry, most recently at Springer Nature.
“As we further grow our London headquarters, we are constantly looking for talented people with industry experience and belief in open access scientific research,” said Alex Lazinica, IntechOpen’s co-founder and CEO. “Alex brings to us international account management skills and the know-how in addressing the scientific community’s publishing needs, which will be even more important as we continue to expand.”
IntechOpen is the market leader in scientific publishing of Open Access books with more than 3,300 books published, over 57,000 citations in Web of Science databases, and with over
115 million downloads of chapters and books to date. More than 100,000 researchers, including Nobel Prize laureates, have published their research on the platform.
“IntechOpen’s technology and innovation are at the very heart of its work with the scientific community, so it is no surprise that the company is in a leading position in the Open Access scientific book market,” Christoforou said. “In my role, I will be leveraging this powerful combination, which not only shapes how IntechOpen supports its authors, editors, institutions and readers – but also ensures they are at the forefront of our thinking every step of the way.”
As a Head of Global Open Research Support for Springer Nature’s fully open access portfolio of online journals, Christoforou led customer service for academic authors, editors and libraries.
