International Open Access Week 2018: Thieme Presents Broad Open Access Portfolio

The Thieme Group continuously expands their open access offering, with 13 journals dedicated to various medical fields added this year alone. The open access portfolio meanwhile comprises more than 40 international journals. Moreover, almost all of Thieme’s 170 journal titles offer open access options as well. Many of the journals are published in close collaboration with medical and scientific associations.

In time for Open Access Week, Thieme launched the Journal of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology, a publication of the Indian medical association in the field. “Our program is growing steadily, and each new open access title provides customized publication options to another specialist group. To this end, we cooperate with numerous national associations,” says Dr Daniel Schiff, Senior Vice President at Thieme, who is responsible for Thieme’s international journal program. Among the new titles published this year are the Indian Journal of Cardiovascular Disease in Women, a publication the Indian Women in Cardiology and Related Sciences Association, and the Journal of Morphological Sciences of the Brazilian Society of Anatomyand the Pan-American Association of Anatomists. The program now also includes two research journals in Spanish: the Argentinian Journal of Radiology of the Sociedad Argentina de Radiología and the Columbian Urology Journal of the Sociedad Colombiana de Urología. Earlier this year, Thieme also took over the publication of the official journal of the Aortic Institute at Yale-New Haven Hospital, AORTA.

Throughout their portfolio, the Thieme Group emphasizes quality content: “The publishing services we provide in the context of open access publications are as comprehensive as in Thieme’s subscription journals with the same high demands on quality. All contributions are carefully reviewed and edited: a discerning peer review by leading international experts and professional editing are indispensable,” says Daniel Schiff.

Interested authors can currently choose to publish open access in over 40 open access journals as well as in numerous hybrid titles. Authors publishing with Thieme benefit from a complete set of services and the publishers’ long-standing expertise in presenting scientific research results. In addition to high-quality editorship, Thieme provides targeted marketing and advertising strategies ensuring high visibility and a large audience for the publications.
