Elsevier announced today the Netter’s Anatomy Atlas App for iPad is now available on the App Store. Based on the world-renowned medical artwork of Dr. Frank H. Netter, full-color anatomic illustrations allow users to personalize their atlas of over 500 illustrated plates so that they can focus on the need-to-know anatomy specific to a course or area of specialty and interest.

“Imagine carrying an interactive authoritative guide on human anatomy wherever you go that allows you to study, quiz yourself and take notes on the fly!” said John T. Hansen, PhD, Associate Dean and Professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center and lead Editor of the Netter Atlas of Human Anatomy, 5th edition. “No one does it better than Netter and his brilliant color illustrations literally ‘jump’ off the iPad screen with a luminescence that is unsurpassed. Test drive this App and you’ll open a whole new world of anatomical knowledge with just the tap or swipe of your finger tip.”

Features of the App include:

  • The ability to tap Muscle Info buttons to review attachments, innervations, actions, and blood supply;
  • Label quizzes to test memory of terminology;
  • A set of 50 anatomy questions from USMLEConsult.com to help prep for boards;
  • Customization of individual labels with on, off, and highlight settings;
  • “My Netter” bookmark and notes to organize and personalize studies;
  • Enhanced suite of quizzing and customization features to create an intuitive study guide;
  • Quick navigation of the illustration database by Searching (keyword or plate number), Browsing by Region or System, or Jumping to Related Plates to see alternate views.

“Elsevier is committed to supporting healthcare students and professionals by providing new, convenient and innovative ways to learn, review and practice medicine,” said Randy Charles the Managing Director of the Global Clinical Reference Group at Elsevier. “This exciting new Netter app is rooted in our deep customer insight research. The ability to access these world-famous Netter images in a non-linear fashion in the app, and to customize the user experience of the images, are aspects of functionality with strong market demand. ”
