Oliver Pesch Appointed to NISO Board of Directors

The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Oliver Pesch to the Board of Directors. Oliver was appointed to replace Patricia Steele, who stepped down as a Director. He will fill her remaining term, ending on June 30, 2014.

Mr. Pesch is Chief Strategist, E-resource Access and Management Services with EBSCO Information Services. In this capacity he helps set direction for EBSCO’s products. He devotes considerable time and energy to the creation and promotion of library standards. Currently, he serves as co-chair of NISO’s SUSHI Standing Committee and the Executive Committee for Project COUNTER as well being a member of several standards committees. Pesch joined EBSCO in 1986. He previously served as the NISO Board of Directors Chair in the 2008-2009 term.

“I have been involved with NISO for a number of years,” states Pesch, “and am impressed with how it plays a critical role in advancing information standards. It is an honor to serve on its Board of Directors.”

“Oliver has always been a strong supporter of NISO’s programs and standards in general,” states Todd Carpenter, NISO Executive Director. “He is very familiar with the information standards in our community and the key players in standards development. His insight and innovative thinking will be an asset to the NISO Board.”
