OpenAthens, which provides federated identity and access management services to a global client base, will be exploring the online user journey and experience during two sessions at Internet Librarian 2018 in California, both presented by Jon Bentley, commercial director, OpenAthens.
The first presentation, entitled ‘Transforming Library Experiences With User-Centered Design’ and will be held at 11:30am on Tuesday 16 October.
This interactive talk will explore the user centred design (UCD) methodology and how it can transform the user experience. Alongside looking at the different frameworks that can be used to introduce UCD to library projects, Jon will present findings from OpenAthens’ most recent user research across libraries in the UK and USA, highlighting the trends which have impacted on users’ behaviour.
Jon’s second presentation explores ‘Pharma Research: Insights & Challenges’ is being held at 4:15pm on Tuesday 16 October.
During this session Jon will present key challenges and insights from his research with global pharmaceutical companies worldwide on collaboration around accessing data. Attendees will receive a copy of the analysis ‘Identity & access management for global pharmaceutical companies – an insight report’, which reflects on key issues affecting librarians, publishers and end users.
Commenting on the two sessions, Jon said: “During my career I’ve witnessed first-hand the widespread changes and adaptions that the publishing industry has had to make in response to new technologies. Despite these changes, the fundamental role of a publisher has not changed. Accessibility to accurate, intelligent, insightful information has never been more important.
“Trust between users and online publishers remains paramount. I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to participate in this conference representing OpenAthens and demonstrate this trust between the publishers, libraries and end users.”
