Researchers are in favor of widening access to research but remain largely unaware of initiatives and services that have been established to encourage growth of open access (OA).

IntechOpen has added a first batch of around 2,000 of our 4,300 titles to the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB). The directory enables the search and discovery of Open Access books, increasing visibility for authors and helping their books reach a broader audience.

Not-for-profit Jisc and the Microbiology Society are pleased to announce a two-year pilot transitional open access (OA) agreement. The ’Publish and Read’ deal will allow researchers at participating institutions to publish an unlimited number of open-access articles, as well as access to the society’s full portfolio in return for a cost neutral fixed fee.

Yale University supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, Yale University Library has entered an institutional agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of this agreement, Yale-affiliated corresponding authors will benefit from a 15% membership discount on article processing charges (APCs) when publishing in any of Frontiers’ open access journals, irrespective of what fund covers the APC.

The report and toolkit are designed to help support learned society publishers to accelerate their transition to Open Access (OA), and enter into transformative agreements that unlock a multi-year transitional pathway compliant with Plan S for hybrid OA titles. Plan S, an initiative of international funders and charitable foundations called cOAlition S, seeks to move to a world where all research findings are made immediately available to all.
