Springer will collaborate with the Italian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine and BiologyS

Springer and the Italian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (SIUMB) have agreed to a five-year partnership to publish the Journal of Ultrasound, starting in 2013 with Volume 16. Appearing quarterly, the Journal of Ultrasound is the official journal of SIUMB. It will be available exclusively in electronic format on SpringerLink (link.springer.com). It was formerly published by Elsevier.

The Journal of Ultrasound deals with significant advances in the physics, engineering and technology of ultrasound in medicine and biology. The peer-reviewed articles are relevant for clinical diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic applications and clinical techniques in particular. The journal publishes original contributions such as research and review articles, case reports, technical reports and letters to the editor. All articles are published in English while the abstracts are written in both English and Italian.

Ferdinando Draghi, Editor in Chief of the journal, said “The Journal of Ultrasound has become an educational tool and a forum for the communication and exchange of ideas between the society members and the international community. Working with Springer will help to promote the journal by increasing its global visibility and support the society in its mission.”

Carlotta d’Imporzano, Executive Editor of Medicine Journals in Italy, said “We are proud to welcome the Journal of Ultrasound to the Springer Clinical Medicine journals portfolio, that further enriches our Imaging publishing program. The Journal offers a relevant additional scientific resource to all clinical practitioners and scientists working in this interdisciplinary field. The Journal of Ultrasound will join many established publications in the Radiology area and will have a global exposure via the SpringerLink platform. We are especially pleased to have the opportunity to partner with the SIUMB Society on this challenging project, being furthermore honored to collaborate to the development of this estimated journal.”
